Born in Draguignan, France, in 1951, Richard Mille entered the watch industry in 1974 and rose to key leadership roles, including managing director of Mauboussin’s watch division.
In 2001, he launched his first timepiece, introducing a radical new approach to watchmaking. Inspired by Formula 1 and aerospace, he set out to apply cutting-edge materials and engineering techniques to high-end horology.

From day one, Mille’s creations stood out for their high-tech construction and futuristic design, all built around performance. One of the brand’s first slogans captured this spirit perfectly: “a racing machine on the wrist.”
At the same time, Mille honoured Swiss watchmaking traditions, crafting complex mechanical movements, hand-assembled and finished to the highest standards.
